Plan a Las Vegas trip

Vegas golf runs the full spectrum: Shadow Creek's stay-at-an-MGM-property fantasy land, Wynn's $750 in-city spectacle, and the honest desert golf of Paiute 25 minutes north - all bolted onto the easiest flight, food, and nightlife logistics in America. The trick is matching budget to ego: this market will happily let a group overspend.

Calendar warningF1 Las Vegas GP (Nov) and major conventions (CES in Jan) spike room rates city-wide - check the calendar before locking dates.

The courses, graded

Tiers are our editorial call: what's worth the green fee versus filler. Constraint badges are researched facts.

Shadow Creek

Bucket list
$1100–$1250Tom Fazio

Fazio built a North Carolina forest in the Mojave with casino money, and it's even more surreal in person. The limo pickup and forecaddie are part of the show. Yes, it costs what a flight to Scotland costs. Book it once.

Cascata

Premium
$300–$475Rees Jones

A river runs through the clubhouse. Carved into a Boulder City mountainside, this is the most dramatic 'normal-bookable' round in the market.

$550–$750Fazio & Wynn (redesign)

An 18-hole resort course on the Strip itself - pure novelty, immaculate conditioning, and a 37-foot waterfall finisher. It's a flex round, priced like one.

$120–$230Pete Dye

Three Dye courses in the high desert with zero houses and Mt. Charleston views. Wolf is the headliner; the 15th island green is Dye doing Dye. Best golf-per-dollar in Vegas.

$200–$350Lee Schmidt & Brian Curley

South-Pacific theming at the south end of the Strip. Convenience is the product: walkable from Mandalay Bay, fine golf, big price. Pay for it only if logistics rule.

When to go

March–May and October–November are ideal (70s–80s, dry). Summer is 110°F - dawn tee times only, big discounts. Winter is playable with occasional wind.

Getting around

No rental car needed for the Strip; use ride-shares to courses (15–40 min). Paiute and Cascata runs justify one rental SUV for the golf days.

Where to stay

Stay on or near the Strip and commute to golf. If Shadow Creek is the centerpiece, an MGM property (Aria, Bellagio, MGM Grand) isn't optional - it's the access mechanism.

hotel

MGM Resorts property (Aria / Bellagio / MGM Grand)

Comped-feeling luxury at midweek rates.

Shadow Creek tee times are exclusively for MGM Resorts guests - booking here IS the course access.

hotel

Off-Strip suite hotel (Vdara / Signature)

Quieter rooms for groups that want golf-first mornings, still 10 minutes from everything.
