Plan a St. George trip

Southern Utah is the best value-to-drama ratio in American golf: lava fields, vermilion cliffs, and Sand Hollow's clifftop back nine for less than half of what Scottsdale charges in March. Black Desert's arrival gave the region a true tour-stop anchor. Winter is the play - while the mountain-west freezes, St. George sits at 2,800 ft and stays golfable.

Altitude~2,800 ft - a half-club of extra carry.

Calendar warningPGA Tour's Black Desert Championship (check fall dates) closes Black Desert and tightens area lodging.

The courses, graded

Tiers are our editorial call: what's worth the green fee versus filler. Constraint badges are researched facts.

The back-nine cliff holes along the red rock are the best stretch in Utah, period. At ~$150 peak it embarrasses courses charging three times more.

When to go

Fall through spring is prime; summer hits 105°F+ (play dawn times only). Winter days are usually 50–60°F and clear - the best December–February golf that isn't Phoenix-priced.
